To identify if you have had this installed follow these steps. 1. Look for a folder named C:\WINNT and locate the file client.cfg. 2. Open client.cfg with notepad or wordpad. 3. Look for these entries: username=DalesKid team=33307 Other files to look for in C:\WINNT Windows.exe – This is the folding client renamed by the author of the installer. instsrv.exe – Microsoft program to install services. srvany.exe exe – Microsoft program to run other programs as a service. If you find the above, it is more then likely that you have had this installed. To remove it, you can download and run the dk_uninstaller.exe, or uninstall it manually with the following instructions. Removal Tool Simply download and run the DK Trojan Removal Tool v1.0.exe. I designed this to be a quick and painless removal tool to help those perhaps not computer savy enough, or for those that just don’t have the time to remove this by hand. After all, it wasn’t installed by hand, so why should you have to spend more of your time and effort removing it. Basically what it does is reverse what the DK Trojan Installer did, nothing more, and nothing less. Steps are outlined below. • Intro screen. • Asks if you want to run the uninstaller or not. • Confirms if DK Trojan was installed on the system, and if so proceeds to remove it. • Stops the folding (Windows) service. • Removes the Windows Service. • Asks if you would like to leave instsrv.exe and srvany.exe on the system. • Removes the files installed by the dk trojan. • Removes all folding related files that were a direct result of the dk installer. It does not: • Remove the WINNT dir. (This is an actual system folder in NT, 2000 systems and XP systems upgraded from 2000) • Remove the Pande Group Registry Key. (This would not be good for those that had a legitimate folding instance going) Manual Removal Instructions Open a command prompt window. Start>Run>Type in cmd or command. Or Start>Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt. In the console window type these commands one at a time and hit Enter after each. net stop Windows cd c:\winnt instsrv Windows remove You should get confirmation if the commands were successful. Now go into the C:\WINNT dir and delete the following files. • Windows.exe • instsrv.exe - Can leave if you know it needs to be there. • srvany.exe - CAn leave this one as well, if you are sure it needs to be there. • client.cfg Files from the folding app.: • queue.dat • MyFolding.html • unitinfo.txt • fah* - meaning anything starting with FAH, Fah. • work directory folder – This entire directory and all files under it can be removed.
